PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cape Town web developers collaborate to get charities online

This August, website developers & designers will join content creators and social media gurus for a collaborative day of helping a selection of charities to enhance their online presences, using WordPress, a popular open source website creation platform.

“WordPress is about empowerment and empowering others to share their voice with the world” said lead organiser at WordPress Cape Town, Hugh Lashbrooke, “What better way to give back to our community than to share in the empowerment and experience of having a sustainable website, using WordPress.”

WordPress Cape Town is the long-time group of WordPress users from in and around Cape Town, forming with the first official WordCamp Cape Town (the annual WordPress conference) in 2008. Holding regular meetups and events around the topic of WordPress, the group aims to branch out and create innovative events around WordPress which involve more than just a sit down discussion around a hot topic of the moment. Thus, the Do Action events were born.

Do Action 1 will take place at the Bandwidth Barn (Woodstock Exchange, Albert Road, Woodstock) on the 23rd of August 2014 from 9am into the evening. Meals will be provided with a pizza dinner (sponsored by Butler’s pizza) and a prize-giving to award the most successful of the websites created, as judged by our team of esteemed judges from within the Cape Town website development industry.

With sponsors such as Hetzner, WooThemes, PayFast, Obox and Butler’s Pizza contributing to this event, we are set to initiate social change and to assist the selected charities in enhancing their online presence and getting their message out to the world.
