Comutr tackles the pressing issue of the Transportation system across South Africa, today comutr is launching cohikr for the public. It’s a portal to serve as an alternative to modes of transport like buses or taxis for commuters. Comutr intends to bring back smart in “Smart Cities”, a true smart city is the one with a transit system that just works, all the time. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case in Cape Town or in any other metro in South Africa. In Cape Town people constantly battle with train delays and cancellations. This leaves a lot of commuters stranded resulting in late comings at work and some even losing their jobs.

With the rise of Ridesharing and carpooling services, our cities are still experiencing traffic congestion exponentially. Comutr’s cohikr aims to serve as an alternative to what already is. Lwando Tyatya Founder/CEO of Comutr says “We will redefine what ride-sharing is which has been greatly monetized yet built on the old traditional act of being a Good Samaritan”.

The public transportation in South Africa as a whole doesn’t work all the time for the people. Many times it fails the commuters. Cohikr will be the epitome of ride-sharing making hitchhiking possible within our Metros.

How this works is simple, free and faster with commuters giving each other rides at their own discretion creating an opportunity for free rides. The success of cohikr will be creating and being part of a community that has just had enough of spending an ample time in traffic and tired of let downs for the transit system. Users can access cohikr via Comutr’s Web Application at https://m.comutr.co.za. A user will be required to create an account to post/request a ride or chat with fellow commuters.

We have a lot to do as a people in the quest of making our cities truly smart, we cannot rely on one system, comutr is part of this movement. A smart city is an environmentally friendly city.
