We take a look at the regions in Africa where tech innovation is thriving

Africa has the highest growing economy in the world after South Asia. Output growth is estimated to have increased 3.6% in 2017, predicted to accelerate to 4.1% in 2019. Global companies are tapping into this wealth by investing in the growing number of tech hubs in Africa. According to research conducted by GSMA Ecosystem Accelerator, there were 442 tech hubs operating in Africa last year, up from 314 in 2016. Leading the way was South Africa with 59 hubs, followed closely by Nigeria with 55. Coming in third, fourth, and fifth, were Egypt (33), Kenya (30), and Morocco (25), respectively. These centres made up over 45% of the continent’s tech landscape.
