Thanks to you all who entered your nominations for the 10-seat steering committee, which will be charged with taking the Silicon Cape Initiative’s vision forward and forming the non-profit foundation.

The nominations have now been collated, and 109 unique names have been submitted. We will be contacting each person in due course, and asking them if they are prepared to stand, and if so, to submit a short bio. The voting process will then be setup and opened up to the community.

In the meantime, the interim steering committee has been quite busy, meeting with key members of government to brief them on the project, and working on the first early versions of a Silicon Cape positioning paper, outlining the key opportunities, case studies, obstacles and possible proposals. This paper will be used to engage with government and other sectors.

It is going to be quite a lengthy and technical paper by the time it’s done, particularly the areas around regulatory change and possible tax incentives, and fortunately several volunteers have already come forward to help.

Thanks again for your participation!
