From a young age I had a passion for IT. Whilst still studying in college, I started my own business tutoring pupils with PC introduction, typing and Microsoft Office courses. After completing my studies, I began working in the IT field as a technician for a small company at that time, called Bluetek Computers. This helped me better my knowledge of computer hardware and software problem solving. As the company I worked for started expanding, I was promoted to Return Material Authorizations (RMA) Manager. In this position, I learned how the flow of stock works within an IT company and how to negotiate with its suppliers.
The company started to experience phenomenal growth in sales and shortly thereafter I was promoted to IT sales consultant. In this position, I managed corporate client accounts and also helped with retail sales. Consulting with and then giving the best solution for each person or companies individual needs is a skill I then developed. In most cases, I also had to help manage the implementation of solutions for our clients that needed extra care and attention towards their IT needs. These experiences empowered me in managing key accounts within the company. I constantly achieved sales and customer relations management (CRM) target figures on a quarterly basis.
Within this period, I also started a project within the company to benefit the local universities students. The project involved students coming together to partake in a pc gaming event and competing for various prizes, also known as a LAN event. Immediately this started to become an annual event and has seen significant growth in the past 3 years. So far this event has broken provincial records in player participation and prize values. Currently, I am still the project manager for this event which is currently being rated and competing on a national level.
Understanding and reading the current IT market trends are highly developed skills that I have learned over the years as supplying the right products, at the right time, at the right price is absolutely crucial in today’s current economic environment. Bluetek Computers is currently a leading IT company in South Africa, supplying various products and services to major IT segments, within South Africa. I have proved myself capable on various levels and therefore I am currently employed as the stock manager for all of Bluetek Computers branches.
