Event Policy

2018 Event Policy

As Silicon Cape (SC) is a community owned brand, the Silicon Cape Initiative is obliged to ensure that the channel is leveraged fairly. The purpose of this policy is to set forth the guidelines for partnering with SC, sponsorships, and affiliated events that arise during the course of 2018.

Any event added to the SC website and promoted through its channels must comply with any one of the following tiers of conditions:

Event Options – Partnership with Silicon Cape 

 Tier 1

SC partners with large local / international events

The event can be free or paid entry

 Silicon Cape

  • SC will not be the lead sponsor nor responsible for costs incurred during and leading up to the event.
  • SC will render resources in terms of connections, relationships, mentorship, IP assistance and manpower.
  • SC will promote the event via its resources i.e. newsletter, social media channels and committee networks.

 Partner to do

  • List event on SC Website.
  • 1-3 tickets will be given away to the community to attend the event.
  • There will be a signed partnership agreement  / memorandum of understanding outlining the full details of the partnership prior to the event.
  • The SC logo will be visible at the event.

 

 Tier 2

Events that are happening in and around the community may choose to affiliate themselves with SC.

 Silicon Cape

  • SC will not be the lead sponsor nor responsible for costs incurred during and leading up to the event.
  • SC will render resources in terms of connections, relationships, mentorship, IP assistance and manpower.
  • SC will promote the event via its resources i.e. newsletter, social media channels and committee networks.

Partner to do

  • List event on the SC Website.
  • 1-5 tickets will be given away to the community to attend the event.
  • The SC logo will be on marketing material as an affiliated partner.

 

 

 

 Tier 3

SC encourages free listing on the SC Website of all events focused on the tech startup space.

 Silicon Cape

  • SC will not be the lead sponsor nor responsible for costs incurred during and leading up to the event.
  • SC will promote the event via its resources i.e. newsletter, social media channels and committee networks.

 Partner to do

  • List event on the SC Website.
  • 1-3 tickets will be given away to the community to attend the event (these tickets will be given away as part of a competition or with prior agreement with SC or at the discretion of SC).
  • The SC logo will be on marketing material as an affiliated partner.  

Approval Policy 

The approval of each event is a manual process and takes 2-48 hours. If the event needs to be approved urgently please mail engage@siliconcape.com. Please note that approval depends on the availability of the approval team.

All event notices listed on the SC Website must be confined solely to the events page.

Notes on loading your event

  • There is a setting to disable the RSVP on Events. Please make sure you disable this if you would not like to use our RSVP system.
  • Donations may be done via the ‘donate button’ on the homepage, or via EFT. In both cases please email proof of transaction to engage@siliconcape.com.
  • For any queries or requests for banking details or to be issued with an invoice / receipt please contact us with your query.
  • ­­By posting an event on this site, the Silicon Cape Initiative is not held accountable to promote your event through any other means unless specifically agreed in writing or via paying rate card prices.
