Following the success of the second SAVCA 2017 Case Study Compendium, we are pleased to announce that SAVCA will be publishing the SAVCA 2017 Venture Capital Success Stories featuring investee companies from our members’ portfolios. The Compendium, which is due for initial launch later in 2017, is a compilation of up to twenty portfolio-company case studies across a range of industry sectors. Following the launch, the report will be disseminated across all SAVCA platforms, serving as an effective marketing and lobbying tool for the industry. The Compendium also provides outstanding exposure and marketing for both investee companies and the venture capital manager.
The research methodology
SAVCA is commissioning a team of senior financial writers to compile the data and insights on each portfolio company. The content will be structured according to a template that emphasises the investment highlights and the positive impact of the venture capital partnership. This research project is designed to showcase the role of the Southern African Venture Capital industry as a contributor to economic growth, job creation and skills development, BEE and social upliftment, good corporate governance and where relevant, greater levels of environmental accountability. Please refer to the SAVCA 2017 Case Study Compendium for an indication of the format of the publication.Sensitive primary data will be subject to a confidentiality agreement by the writers. Such data will not be disclosed to the public, SAVCA executives or directors.
Call to Action
This letter serves as a request to SAVCA members to offer one of their current or former portfolio companies for this research and promotion.
We aim to present case studies that are evenly spread across industries, asset size and venture capital manager. SAVCA retains the right to make a final decision on which portfolio companies to include in the report.
In order for SAVCA to make an informed selection decision, kindly provide the following details to the SAVCA office as soon as possible, and by no later than Monday, 26 June 2017 to buhle@savca.co.za.

Once selected for inclusion in the Case Study Compendium, the contact person(s) will be required to make themselves available to the writers for a commitment of about two to three hours during June or July 2017. This will include an interview process, as well as the time required to submit supporting documents, logos and photos to the writers.
Once drafted, the case study will be vetted and signed off by the venture capital manager. This will be during August and September 2017.
