Planet Solar, a name synonymous with a vision of relying exclusively on the use of renewable energy, has launched and christened the world's largest solar powered catamaran. With a price tag of 24 million dollars, its futuristic design symbolizes its development from dream to reality. With a host of first's under it's belt, the most prominent is it's mission to tour the world, 25 000 miles relying solely on the power of the sun. In a revolutionary partnership, South African start-up Hummba.com has secured a multi-million rand deal with Planet Solar in an effort to be part of this historic journey, as their on-board media partner.
The catamaran was gently placed into the Baltic Sea and will be put through a series of sea tests before it starts its remarkable journey. Its departure will take place in 2011 from the Mediterranean Sea, following an East to West equatorial route in order to take advantage of as much sun as possible. At the helm of the catamaran will be Raphael Domjan, the visionary of this project and Gerard d'Aboville, the first man to row across the Atlantic and the Pacific. Throughout their adventures, they will be able to rely on their two main partners Candino Swiss Watch and Immosolar Energy Management. For exposure, they will be relying on Hummba.com, ensuring that every detail of the voyage is shared with the world.
Hummba.com is ushering the new era in social networking while Planet Solar ushers in the new era of environmentally friendly means of transport. Hummba is a credible and useful travel and social networking site that is our new way of communicating quality information to people on the move, across the globe.
