About a year ago the Western Cape Provincial Government of South Africa launched a “Bid to save Cape Economy” inviting all the economic role-players to join forces and to address poverty, inequality and unemployment.
At present, economic growth in most countries is under threat and there is no shortcut approach to remedy this. Now is the time for individuals, service and business communities, profit and non-profit organizations, governmental and NGOs, to get involved and do something, but the leading question is HOW? How do we get everybody in the same place (easily accessible, always available and self-expandable) talking business, sharing business, doing business?
We believe we have the solution to the above. Our solution, which embraces the latest and web-based and mobile technology, could go a long way to not only boost the Cape economy, but also the Glocal (global and local) economy. It will also make a significant difference in the way we think and do business going forward.
We would therefore like to extend our invitation to you to help us build the necessary coalition, to support our efforts to secure the required investment for a smarter planet and better life, starting here in Cape Town.
I eagerly await your response.
Thanking you,
Liviu

As a lifetime entrepreneur and having worked globally, I can honestly say that the biggest problem facing the global economy and local economies worldwide is greed.
To blow our own trumpet a little, we design and publish Android (and some ios) apps for informal, small and micro businesses, giving them a digital presence without the need for websites and e-commerce. We provide our customers (even the illiterate ones who've never been to school) with Social and mobile digital media training and then we help them monetise the mobile digital aspect of their business, all for the princely sum of R285.
Admittedly the effort put into each R285 customer cultivates them to buy more complex products as their businesses grow, but the idea behind our operation is to plant the seed and make it grow, so that we can all benefit from the fruits of the mature business later down the line.
We never sell the customer something they dont need, and as they grow we provide them with access to cost effective products that grow their business without causing a dent in their development or sinking them in over investment (And for township businesses R500 at the wrong time in development can be an over investment.)
Many people underestimate the value of growing and developing these "invisible" businesses, and I could certainly write a dissertation on the Socio economic reach and impact even on the highly visible LSM 10 sector of the population, if only someone would listen.
When someone from these informal sectors is happy to invest R285 in what we have to offer, they are making a huge commitment proportionate to their income. Not many people understand this. We do however have great faith in enabling the poor, rather than just feeding them. More people like you and those in this group will help alleviate our economic growth needs and by design enrich themselves in the process - and not just financially either.
