Looks like someone started a NodeJS meetup in Cape Town:
http://daemon.co.za/2012/05/why-start-a-nodejs-user-group/
But it looks a bit dead (no new meetups this year) - also I think SC would be a grand place to get some Node peeps together - so this is a quick message-in-the-bottle post for any developers out there who find Node exciting and would like to have a chat about forming a group - or anyone who may point me in the right direction with regards to an existing group?
My throat is a bit hoarse from screaming Node's praises from the empty hill-tops of my workplace and I would so love the company of a few fellow devotees.
I also dont have any friends, not because I suffer from chronic halitosis, but simply because I am new to Silicon Cape.
Anyhow - because Node is so awesome, I look forward to what I assume will be an avalanche of comments and warm invitations to all the cool events already going on without me knowing about it.
My party outfit, replete with pen-protector, cellotape repaired glasses and pleated chinos, is waiting patiently for an event...

Comment by Simon Bishop on Monday Node Group created - lets all join and see if we cannot organise something
Comment by Simon Bishop on Monday Sweet guys, I am getting Roger to create a NodeJS group here for us, I would love to see a presentation Johann - we can use the group to come up with a date for a meet. I am working on something in Node during my spare time, and there is a part of it I would also like to show you guys - as I think it may be cool to open-source it - so I may also have something to show the group. Whoop! The nerd in me is awkwardly jumping for joy!
Comment by Johann du Toit on Monday Was a active member of NodeCPT but it stopped due to a small interest.
Was bumped when it went away. I've been doing a few talks on NodeJS with the latest one on my blog at http://johanndutoit.net/presentations/2013/02/gdg-capetown-nodejs-w.... Would want to do more about Underscore, Backbone, SocketIO etc.
So if a event pops up I'd be willing to give a presentation. And h*** just getting a group to talk about NODEJS again would be great.
I've been working with it on several projects and the eco-system is just too awesome not to have it's own group ! It me up so I can know where to go !
Comment by Ian Petzer on Monday I'm still interested in a NodeJS meetup.
I've just posted a message to the NodeCPT mailing list asking if there are any meetups planned.
If anyone here is interested why not join the mailing list and maybe we can get something going.

Comment by Simon Bishop on February 22, 2013 at 11:39 Hey fellow Noder!
I tried mailing Adrian, no reply yet - I also feel perhaps that it makes sense to try and get a group together on SC? Perhaps a programming framework may be a bit general to form a group around, but the things you can (or would like to) build with node would be good for discussing on a platform like SC?
Anyhow - thanks awfully for the response, and lets wait and see what happens for the next couple of days...
Comment by Nerudo Mregi on February 22, 2013 at 11:26 Node Node Node. I keep "noding" to this. You are right I recently noticed there wasn't any new events a week ago. Not sure if the groups are the same, the one I ran into was http://nodecpt.github.com/
Not sure if Adrian Rossouw is on Silicon cape, should be the person to hit up.
Maybe we could shamelessly bother https://twitter.com/NodeCPT for another event! What you think?
