We are social web addicts in media, business and entertainment!
We are young, vibrant and socially-savvy with a lot of interest in new media tools for communication on the web.
At Sowambe, we are creating a social media lifestyle brand aimed at promoting trends and talents in Africa’s emerging digital media industry.
Co-founded by Loy Okezie and Francis Oghuma in July 2010, Sowambe.com will be featuring and profiling social media talents, agencies, early adopters, latest trends, brands and celebs using social media within Africa.
Our goal is to impact positively in the emerging digital media industry within Africa through a variety of products.
Our first product, Sowambe Awards, starting in February 2011 will be recognizing the best use of social media in 30 categories amongst individuals, groups, agencies, celebs, brands and organizations in Nigeria.
Our second product, Sowambe Magazine, launching digitally in April 2011 and print in July 2011 will be featuring trends in social media and how celebs and brands are using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Blogs, etc) in Africa.
Sowambe is simply an acronym for – Social Web Addicts in Media, Business and Entertainment.
In the yoruba language, ‘sowambe?’ means “are you there?”. So we’re asking: Are you there? Are you in the social media space? Are you a social web addict?
