In the process of launching Lessfuss, a personal assistant service

I am working with a group of people to launch a new service called Lessfuss. Lessfuss is a personal assistant service which is aimed at helping people save time, while getting the best possible advice doing so. There is a lot more info on our How it works page, including what the service aims to help people with, and how it will all work.

We have been working…

Calendar Sharing

So I wanted to put this idea out there and see what sort of response there is to it.

I know there is obviously ways to synchronize your calendar with yourself between your outlook, webmail, blackberry, iphone etc etc. There is also functionality for you to share specific calendar events with other people which comes through as an email and you can add it to your calendar.

But what about sharing your actual calendar, or maybe even a portion of it with other people…

The basic rule of business

"Time is money and nothing takes no time” is a mantra that every human being on the planet who seeks gainful employment should be made to repeat a thousand times for a hundred days so that business can flow much smoother.

If you want to read the original rant, I posted it here. In my view this mantra should be carved above the entrance to every business so that all of its clients can read…

Today I'm launching techboard.co.za - A job board for South African Tech workers

The site is meant to be a place where employers and employees can connect directly.

I plan on only allowing high quality job ad and no ads from recruiters.

I developed the site using Ruby on Rails 3 and it's currently hosted on Heroku. I have worked on it on and off for about 4 months, and I did all the design and development myself.

Please have a look at:

Foolproof security

I am looking for someone with the necessary technical knowledge to provide us with a foolproof security system that allows online downloads under our control. At the recent CeBIT exhibition in Hannover, I was told of a system that requires a flash drive to enable an application download and can also control how long the download remains in effect. I'm happy to talk to anyone who feels they could provide such a facility. Contact me on my email: graham@computers4kids.co.za or phone: 082-452-7693

Thinking Outside the Box

Much has been said about the need to be creative and innovative.  The fields of application in business range from new products and services (product innovation), to new ways of doing things within the organization (operational innovation), to new ways of creating value for the customer (business model innovation).  Organizations such as IBM have done some research in this field and show that business model innovation leads to higher returns than both operational innovation and product…

Hi guys,

I have great idea for a mobile application that I want to develop.

I have linked a social need of society up with a mobile application that will be able to effectively satisfy this need and generate vast revenue. However, I do not have the adequate coding skills/capital to develop the application to a viable level. This will change the way we interact for ever!!

I am in need of a partner with the skills or capital to develop the app.

Business plan crits, comments and feedback

QCF is in the process of applying for a loan for the final push on Desktop Dungeons, so I've had to update our business plan. Seeing as our games benefit hugely from work-in-progress criticism, I thought I'd do the same thing for the plan itself.

Is there any information missing that…

TECH & THE DESIGN INDABA: Taking stock of our creative enterprise potential

The recent Design Indaba highlighted the creative elements of South Africa’s entrepreneurial culture. With some tech exhibitions and a keynote address from Google’s Robert Wong, any of us familiar with California could easily have felt were at a high tech US convention.

Emerging markets are a big deal, and the rhetoric of talk on our part of the world’s pro-Africa do-gooders has been met with a sobered,…

TrustFabric has joined the ranks of ambitious new Silicon Cape startups. The venture seeks to have a global impact on how people interact with the businesses around them.

“Starting a new technology business is not trivial, so it helps if entrepreneurs have a strong passion for solving a real problem.” says co-founder Joe Botha, over a coffee at a bustling café on Kloof Street. Joe explains how…

Authentic Personal Branding

Over the past year or so one Personal Branding disaster caught my attention.

The golfing ace, Tiger Woods, was the ultimate example of success. His work ethic and talent won him a plethora of golf tournaments. He was any advertisers dream. Woods oozed perfection, class and sophistication on and off the field.

The only hint that I sensed of Tiger's mortality was when his father died. For the first time I could relate to brand Tiger Woods because of the…

Free Cloud Storage.... awesome

So as many of you are aware cloud computing is hitting the world by storm and has already begun to have effects in South Africa. My personal opinion is that this is a definite point of interest for our dear Republic of South Africa as we should be seeing the benefits of wireless entering our country soon and moreover the cost implications which cloud offers are incredibly appetizing for entrepreneurs.

After recently looking at both box.net and dropbox.com I have started to…
