Profile Information

Who are you?
Hans Christian v. Stockhausen (a name not fit for the internet even when omitting three middle names) (a.k.a. HC) , born in 75 in Hamburg, Germany. HC finished school in Belgium and graduated in Economics and Software Tech in Edinburgh, UK in 2001. Since then I've been working for SAP Germany as system integration specialist. Since 2006 mostly in SA. Computer enthusiast since childhood. If not in front of PC you might find me under water or somewhere in the bush, enjoying the peace and beauty this great country has to offer.
Update: I've just joined IZAZI - a great consulting house here in Joburg.

Hi Hans, I've arranged a CONNCT Meetup Group with the aim of bringing entrepreneurs, designers and techies together to share ideas, build trust and conquer the world. Unfortunately we don't have any techies to attend yet, would you be open to posting a comment or notification on your GTUG group?

They can join on the Meetup page here

or read more on the Silicon Cape events page

Hey Hans - don't know if I am going to make it to the next one :( Sorry - have SO much to do. Bought myself a Google Nexus S over Easter - love it. Have many android app ideas already that I would like to build - still have other (less exciting) stuff to finish off first though..

Hey Hans - good suggestion - will definately look into it. A "server-lockdown" approach was the easiest to implement but it is the least flexible.

Ning's cool

If you want to prototype a social network such as http://siliconcape.com or http://big-5.co.za, Ning's your friend. It would have taken me a year to construct a social platform with a lesser feature set. But Ning is not open source. Whilst they told me that I would be able to migrate my data off Ning if I wanted to, the biggest problem I see is that I cannot improve it. Sure, one could try opensocial.org since Ning is a compliant container, but some things have to be fixed on the backend side and hacking the UI just doesn't suffice. I believe in open source and think Ning should too. =HC
