In 2008 my nature reserve development went into a nosedive as the Great Recession took hold of the world. I had to reinvent myself (quickly) and looked at the internet as the next great wave of the future. I created Inspired Business Ideas, a network of champions committed to making a positive difference on a global scale. The core philosophy is "Enterprise with a Social Agenda, a mind for profit and a heart for community." Like having fun, making funds and doing good all wrapped into one. If you want to play, click on the image below.
Four years later the dream is starting to become a reality as the first of my ventures, Motivate My City, gains traction. There are many more in the pipeline.
Update January 2013: MMC is on hold for a few months as I sort out a cashflow crunch. I was flat broke and up to my eyeballs in debt trying to bootstrap my startup. So I designed a way to make a sh*%tload of cash by eliminating the unfair disadvantages of poverty. It's called "Triangles of Power" and it's now part of my Empowered Capital strategy.
Now imagine Cape Town filled with people empowering people where every Capetonian, rich or poor, with a dream and the will to pursue it, has equal access to empowering education. That's Motivate Cape Town!
Motivate My City is the most popular venture on VC4Africa, a global platform connecting entrepreneurs and investors.

Hi Shaun
Good to meet you and learn about Inspired Business. I do proposals, yes. I'm interested in getting involved in documentation for small businesses. I think the best, newest, most creative entrepreneurs need simpler, more useful documentation. "If it's not documented, it doesn't exist."
Best regards
Good to meet you here again in Silicon Cape. I chatted to Rob Gilmour the other day, registered, and I'm loving this space. I like how passionate the CT entrepreneurial community is.
Hi Shaun, Thanks for the invite.
Talking about empowering cape town: As a Zoe-X initiative, I would like to make Zoe-X freely available to all South African schools by year end.
Our system is unique in that it is designed to run most optimally on gprs carrier platforms, which allow us to introduce services to sites where traditional data transfer methods are problematic. We have yet to experience a site where our platform is non functional. Our rollout thus far extends to 5 provinces within SA. Shaun, I would be happy to chat with you further, please feel free to contact me grant@thecontentcompany.co.za
Hi Shaun, you're welcome. No, we haven't moved to Cape Town yet - still finalizing the logistics. I hope to get in touch once I'm that side.. I have just gone through your post How to collaborate for equity , it's spot on!
I'm in the process of sorting out my static IP hosting at home/office. It should be up and running by end of month.
I will be hosting some demo sites around mobile banking, vending (evd's and other), micro finance and I'm doing a few demo's on NFC and RFID (asst tracking and security).
I'm also interested in bringing localized marketing into the demo.
I will also host a download server (App store) for the client apps (J2ME, Andriod and IPhone/Ipad).
It's interresting times indeed in the mobile space.
I've just resigned from Kineto Mobile as the dev manager and starting out on my own.
I in the process of getting these demo's going while doing some contract work on the side :) . Have to keep the pot boiling.
Will you be going to the network event #4? Look me up we can chat about an idea I have for a software kabutz!
Hi Shaun.
The short answer to that is "creating". I like the creative process of software product development. All of it, yep even the support!
And yourself?
Cheers
Andre
