Profile Information

Who are you?: I'm the CTO/Architect/Head-Coffee-Addict at Global Back Office (http://www.globalbackoffice.com) in Cape Town.

Before that I worked as a senior developer at Data Room (http://www.dataroom.co.za), the founder of Business Artists (http://www.businessartists.co.za), and started life as financial Flash/RIA developer at Global Vision IT (http://www.gloviz.co.za).

I studied electronic engineering at Stellenbosch, and am presently finishing off a B.Sci in Applied Mathematics and Quantitative Management through UNISA. I'm a published poet (and a dabbler in art), and my passion related to technology is the synthesis of systems architecture and abstract processes - namely generic structures.

What is your current activity, project or occupation?: Currently working on a series of interesting initiatives in the dynamic financial web application space.

My particular area of focus, architecturally speaking, is the design and development of generic and self-describing systems, allowing GBO to rapidly develop and maintain a wide variety of bespoke solutions for all our clients - I live to see changes rolling out to clients on a daily basis - all with the sort of testing, quality and stability traditionally achieved in a matter of weeks and months. It's hard work - but increasingly achievable with the right technology and the best team.
