Hey all!

Revibe is a proudly Silicon Cape internet television network, producing and distributing fun and entertaining shows on a weekly basis. We have a kickass concept, working demo, and are on the verge of launch and just need a bit of funding to help get us there...

If you like the sound of what we're doing and think you can help, I'd love to hear from you, and tell you more over a coffee or beer.

Most of you would have seen this in the FM - but in case you missed it, there is the URL:http://www.fm.co.za/Article.aspx?id=126502. Featuring prominantly, is "our" Justin Stanford. Not that it gives any particular cles to accessing capital but the article has elements that maybe should be included in the narrative of how risky VC is compared to other investments. I can almost guarantee losing new money in the JSE for the next little while...The Bond or money markets? with QE2, competitive devaluations, deflation/inflation/stagflation who knows?.. A sound start-up, well executed starting to look like an investment for granny's portfolio!!

It is definitely a tough time for start-ups wanting VC. I was chatting to a mate of mine / former colleague who is a director of a VC firm which has been around for almost 10 years and they aren't actively raising capital for anyone currently. Quite a few VC firms have realigned their vision and are moving into Wealth Management as a means to stay profitable until the projects and the markets gain momentum again. Just keep in the mind, financial markets are like most things, they work in cycles. For people who do have capital to invest, now is a great time to get in as there's big upswing potential taking hold - it's just a case of when. For new start-ups: Back yourself, back your ideas and be patient until the time is right.

Hopefully this will prove to be a vibrant group, especially since I am likely to be drinking at the VC trough (again!) in the next couple of years.

As a result of various meetings and many hours of brainstorming and development we are proud to announce the birth of a new concept in business development for Cape Town. The ICT Startup Incubator: a vehicle that will assist new start up entrepreneurs within the ICT sector (Information and Communication Technologies) to gain a helping hand in the development of their businesses.
We have mapped out a generic road map that a typical development company will follow and then placed value-add products and suppliers at each critical stage to provide as much support as possible.
Successful applicants will be assessed to determine their skills and then a bespoke roadmap will be defined for their next 3 years. The assigned Incubator Manager will then walk this road with the Startup assisting and advising along the way. The Business Owner will be responsible for reporting to the Incubator Board at least once a quarter to present their business using the 5-star rating system. This allows for measurement, feedback and adjustment.
We are lining up a collection of 3rd party professionals who are writing, compiling and creating specific tools and products that will be available to the Startup members whilst on this journey. We are still looking for additional people, especially in the finance and funding arena.
More on this in the coming weeks; If you are an ICT startup or a supplier who wants to get involved then get back to us and we will get things rolling.
