Jacobus that is so true..."some problems initially"...but i guess thats what makes IT fun and also leaves you with a feeling that you have contributed to making life better for someone through technology. I was up in Mosselbaai, George and Kynsa (oyster festival) and couldnt help feeling that i'd love to work and stay there.

Moving from Cape Town to the Garden Route is like moving from Windows to Linux. There are some problems initially, but you will never move back ;-)

Good morning Imel

Thank you for the update. I am a Cape Town boy, but love the Garden Route, so a trip up and an open day sounds exciting. We will keep in touch.

Regards

Wesley

Morning guys, we are still planning an open source day, but a little later in the year.
Some of the guys are actually at the Open Source Conference (OSCON) in Portland USA at the moment, so will be coming back with lots to show and tell.
We will also focus on Cloud stuff, like Hadoop and Open Stack at the open day.

Regards
Imel

Hi Jacobus

lol, i have Ubuntu and enjoying every minute of it. :)

Thank you so much for your input on the website. I agree it is abit flashy. At this movement I am looking for some "best practices" as to what is acceptable and what is not as far as presentation of a website goes.

Regards

Wesley

Hi Wesley,

I also recently joined this group, but I don't know how active it is. Get Ubuntu and you can have your own opensourse day - everyday ;-)

For the record, I had a look at your site http://www.welcometosa.com/ It's nice, but you should try to avoid those flickery type adverts like the "cheap flights" banner hogging your prime space. Too much movement on a site usually makes it look cheap and becomes annoying. Otherwise, well done.

Regards,
Jacobus

Hi Imel. I just joined recently. I wanted to enquire if you/the group had the opensourse open day and if yes when will be the next one.

Regards

Wesley

Imel, I would love to be involved in the Garden Route Open Source Open Day. Not a fan of Joomla though. Totally captivated by WordPress, WordPressMU, Drupal and Magento.

We are planning a opensource openday for early 2010, in order to introduce more people to the open source alternative.
Special focus will be on Ubuntu, Joomla and other popular OSS tools.
Anyone interested in being involved please let the group know.
More details to be announced closer to the time.
