What Are The Benefits Of Social Media For Tourism Businesses?

There are numerous benefits to your travel business:

- It's natural - you can reach large groups of potential clients in a spontaneous fashion, without the overt commercial overtones that paid advertising has.

- It's low cost for high returns - your costs are often limited to time and links that would typically cost you thousands of dollars are available for free.

- It complements your other efforts - social media doesn't interfere with any other methods of getting traffic to your website

- It provides you with an identity.

- You can create relationships with people who might not otherwise know about your accommodation or services.

- Social media makes you real to consumers.

Putting hospitality industry on a more professional footing

CTH (The Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality) is in the process of being introduced in South Africa, with the aim of enhancing the skills and expertise of new and upcoming students who wish to pursue their careers in the SA Tourism and Hospitality Market.
A catalyst for the move is the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer next year and the need to ensure that the tourism and hospitality industries are as well prepared as possible.

CTH management programmes are recognised by universities as offering equivalency to degree level study and CTH Diploma students may therefore gain direct entry onto the second year of a variety of tourism and hospitality, degree programmes. Similarly, CTH Advanced Diploma students may enter onto a degree at final year level.

To study for a CTH qualification, or to obtain more information on a centre near you, visit the CTH website at www.cthawards.com or contact me on grant.pringle@cthawards.com
