The Concept

Concept from http://startupweekend.org adapted to local conditions.

The basic goal of the weekend is to start at least one company.

We will do this by gathering a group of people that all are interested in becoming IT entrepreneurs. Those of them that have a business idea will get a chance to pitch the idea (the elevator pitch). People then volunteer their weekend to help bring an idea that they believe in towards prototype stage.

We believe this can be done, because a weekend is short enough that people stay energized and long enough that a significant amount of work can be done by 5-10 people that work on an idea they believe in.

Participants: Anyone with a laptop that wants to be part of a technology startup, but primarily people with programming skills.

I have my own plans however; plans that are going to take a lot more than a weekend, nine months in total to be exact. Would it be okay if I perhaps dropped in to observe one or two weekends?, I love the concept.

Concept similar to Startup Sessions (or actually Startup Sessions is similar to Startup Weekend, which is where we got the concept from).

Will be at Microsoft in Bryanston on the weekend starting 29th of July.

We're keeping registration open and will hopefully see a few more people signing up.

We are starting Saturday at 09h00 and after a short introduction people will get a chance to do their pitch. Prepare yourself!
