A much needed group for those in the Biotech related industry...There's just too many great minds out there with phenomenal ideas - this group will serve as a catalyst to getting those ideas off the lab bench and into successful companies.

Comment by Sebastian Striebeck 20 hours ago Hi,
this group is a blessing! I am a past molecular biologist now delving into the world of cloud computing, virtualization and internet related technologies!
I'm keen to find some interesting information here and learn more from my peers, especially how we can marry these two fields im greatly passioante about!

Listed here below you will find two links which I hope you will find to be useful references as "primers" on biotech, even though that may not be quite what you were asking.
It is an exciting field with tremendous opportunities. The original model, The Silicon Valley, is home to startups involved with computers, the Internet as well as bio-technology. In several cases there is significant overlapping between these industries and instances of synergy which they have achieved.

Hi Everyone
I've joined the group to try and get educated about Bio-entrepreneurship and what it is. I run a website for entrepreneurs called the SME Toolkit South Africa and I would love to be able to add some content and perhaps a few resources for what seems to be an under-catered for group.
Thanks
René

Comment by Justin Beswick on February 28, 2011 at 8:48 @Nikki - the biotech industry is FAR less developed than the ICT sector here in South Africa, and we need to have all key individuals and startups in SA engaging with each other..So please encourage or Jhb (and other) individuals to engage on here.
@William Short answer, Silicon Cape doesn't mean it has to be silicon focused at all. The focus is more on technology.
