American kids have laptops from age 9 and up, some even sooner. Technology is changing the way we interact and live.

Interesting question I have also been wondering about this because those little laptops actually look quite cool for adults too.
@Peter, they do indeed look cool. I've got an Asus 10" Netbook and its pretty decent. I'm thinking this is so important along the lines of bringing more of the kids in SA online and into the 21st century so to speak. If you have the time watch this excellent show on PBS "American Public TV".

They cover a school that gave every kid a laptop and how it changed the crime rate and level of social activity between the students. I think it could and should be applied in SA.
