The Silicon Cape Initiative

Hi, I thought it would be nice to create a thread for people to introduce themselves and give others a reason to add them to their friends.

Me personally, I'm a web consultant and I spend most of my time helping my clients make the most of the internet by ethically and effectively leveraging the medium to either spread the word or sell their product/service.

You're welcome to check out my website, follow me on Twitter or network with me on LinkedIn.

Hi Guys,

I'm Aslam Levy, emarketing coordinator at Cape Town Tourism. I've recently started my own personal blog found here.

Looking forward to seeing how this initiative evolves as we work to position Cape Town as a Leading African Global city.
I am Jacques Mostert (most people know me as Jayx) and I am a freelance web developer, specialising in front-end web and custom WordPress goodness.

I don't want to make this sound like an advertisement, but even people that know me are sometimes unsure of what exactly I do, so here goes ... I specialise in (X)HTML/CSS and a bit of pain where standards are concerned. Even though I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, I do know my way around JavaScript libraries and have a basic understanding of PHP.

I regularly do bitmap to markup projects on behalf of agencies (these include custom WordPress themes as mentioned) ... you may contact me to do the same for you.

Aloha,

I'm the founder of People Surveys, and more recently social media agency Get Social Media. I've been involved in online business since 2001. My current juice is to learn from others and to share what I know about social media.

My three core interests that have weaved their way through all of my consulting and other work are (1) how people communicate (2) how people organise themselves into groups (3) and how people make conscious change in their lives and in their organisations.

I am the author of the social media roadmap guide "Grow Your Business Using Social Media 2009", being used in over 40 countries. You can get a copy at my blog

You can follow me on Twitter or connect on LinkedIn.

I look forward to connecting.

Hi there,

I'm a Microsoft consultant by day and an upcoming entrepreneur by night (haha), the business world has captured me since i was in high school, but i felt i needed to get my hands dirty on the field before i could start venturing into the Cutthroat world of business. When i saw this initiative i knew i was at the right place. My aim is to meet people who are already established and growing in the IT sector. I am based in Cape Town and i am looking forward to rubbing shoulders with all the inspiring business owners of cape town.
Hi there, I'm David Alves...a business owner from Joburg...though young, I feel as though I have personally developed a firm grasp on what I feel makes good business, especially when it comes to greening and alternative marketing.

I have two companies of my own, an e-mag that promotes undiscovered South African goodness and an environmentally friendly advertising agency. We are constantly breaking the mold and enjoy sharing our experiences and techniques with whom ever is interested in finding out more.

The "digital magazine" can be found here: http://www.zaglamour.com

Hoping to make great connections, thanks.
