The Silicon Cape Initiative

A small group of people and companies have gotten the Silicon Cape Initiative this far. But there is still so much more to do! We need your help. Either feel free to make your contribution in this thread or other threads, or contact us directly. There's already a thread under way where designers are contributing web badges to show your support for the Silicon Cape, for instance.

How else can you help? Here are some ideas:

- Are you a business veteran, willing mentor, or angel investor? Engage with the community in the forums!

- Volunteer as an events organiser to arrange regular Silicon Cape networking events

- We'd like to add a Directory to this website, where we can showcase a listing of Silicon Cape startups, mentors, investors and angels and help them find each other. Our web platform, Ning, doesn't currently support this. Can you create a Ning app that can?

- Think you can improve on the Ning skin or brand? Contribute a design.

- Volunteer as a Silicon Cape news blogger, to keep the world updated on what's happening in the Silicon Cape

- Spread the word about the Silicon Cape to local and overseas people. Use your Twitter, Facebook status or the Facebook fan page, LinkedIn status, etc!

- Pledge a donation of expertise, time or funds to the Silicon Cape Foundation. There are going to be numerous portfolios to be fulfilled, from intellectual property law through to regular networking events to be organised

- Place a small text link or badge on your company or blog's website, something like "Made in the Silicon Cape", "Proudly Silicon Cape", or "Born & Bred in the Silicon Cape".

I'd be very willing to blog about Silicon Cape. I am flying up to Johannesburg just after the event on 8 October, but I'll be able to write about it over the course of the weekend.
I'd be more than happy be actively involved in giving this project the momentum it deserves so let me know what portfolios need filling.
Hi guys - I will be happy to tweet this within my profiles as well as blog and advertise it on my speech at Netfront on 23rd in CT.

Springleap are also ready and willing to assist.
Also happy to give some time to this and will mention on the Radio on 702 and Cape Talk.
I will also be more than happy to blog about Silicon Cape and what is going down there on Tx Daily.
You can get my tweet, time and expertise but only after October.
Great initiative guys. I will arrange for the wine, just to ensure the creativity and networking doesn't stop!
I can offer Sound equipment (wireless mic and speakers) for later events if you need?
I am experienced at growing and throwing events and would gladly assist in organizing Joburg based Silicon Cape events.
I can help at events - let me know what you need done!
Thanks Andrew, will do.
