This time round we have and exciting service to be released to our community at our next networking event. Come meet, mingle and be the first to know.
We are also taking submissions for an elevator pitch competition, a 1 minute pitch on your company or idea. Crowd will vote for the best and winner gets a great prize. Submissions to rogern@siliconcape.com
Please note that there are no costs associated with this event. (Unless we manage to get through the tabs...)
Just to clarify about the sim cards and RICA: Cell C will be handing out sim cards at the event. Sim cards guaranteed to the first 500 who RSVP when they show up at the event. The rest will be on a first come- first serve basis. There will be the chance to RICA at the event if you bring proof of address and an ID.
You will not need a sim card to attend. The event will run as a normal networking event with speakers from Silicon Cape, MoTribe, Groupon ZA and Cell C. The main purpose of the event is to meet others in the industry and provide an interesting relaxed atmosphere to do so.

Comment by Suzanne on January 28, 2011 at 13:16 @ma'ayan @Delia I think the CellC promo team weren't briefed properly. Logic should have told them that until someone loads their detail onto it, it has nothing to swap.. that seemed pretty obvious to me but maybe some thought their info had been pre-loaded when they RSVP'd.
@Gunter, plug it into you PC and it will open to the site where you create your profile.
Poken actually works! and it communicates the contact details even when they are filled at a later stage. Sorry for being disappointed earlier as I failed to use it and a Cell C shop ensured me there was no data in the stick. I still think that for Poken to be really useful, it needs to allow other notes to be recorded specific to the discussion (eg content , relevance). I am hopeful that innovative solutions combining mobile phone or email recording capabilities will link to poken to allow that.

MY TOOLS: Now you can manage and safen your phone contacts!
I plan to have customised greetings for most of my contacts.
A great marketing tool to move new clients to Cell C. In fact this morning I have just ported my Vodacom number to Cell C to try it for real at no cost to my business.
POKEN: The product has not worked for me: no contacts were recorded in the stick despite all the green signals last night. Luckily I had pasted the cards as usual and recorded their relevance on paper in my notebook !
The contact exchange needs to be certain, and must provide a way to record relevance and key ideas discussed.
Altogether I am really impressed by the Cell C open minded approach to new business development, this product Beta test can only yield more ideas and benefits for the final version !
